The Emergence of the Religion of Science
At a time when the 'Theory of Intelligent Design' is battling to find a place within the boundaries of the modern American classroom, many in the scientific communities are opening themselves up to theories outside of the normal boundaries of science.
The "Neuroscience of Meditation" was presented to attendees at the annual conference of the Society of Neuroscience last November by "His Holiness", the Dalai Lama. The appearance of the '14th Incarnation of the Living Buddha of Compassion' in front of this crowd of 14,000 in Washington, D.C. underscored the Dalai Lama's passion for merging science with the mystical. His Mind and Life Institute, (see www.mindandlife.org) is the embodiment of this passion. Contained on the website's home page is its mission statement:
"The Mind and Life Institute is dedicated to creating a powerful working collaboration and research partnership between modern science and Buddhism- the world's two most powerful traditions for understanding the nature of reality and investigating the mind."
Many names listed on the website's home page as "science and contemplative affiliates" belong to people with graduate degrees and the like appended to their names. The sister organization, the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science, (see www.iras.org) provides us with some additional insight into the mindset of these intellectuals as they seek answers to life's questions outside of the boundaries of established science and the Bible. Within this website you will find these words:
"The concept of emergence provides new ways of thinking about cosmic and biological evolution, and challenges some widely held paradigms about the nature of Nature. It also opens up some exciting possibilities for reinterpreting many traditional religious views about creation, causality, morality, and the very nature of human being."
"Emergence" is the new paradigm being offered up in the guise of science by many in the modern scientific community. Emergence theory is the next evolution of science and religion as they seek to find common ground. Emergence theory can be served up to the intellectual and the spiritual alike without condemnation, because it is becoming more widely accepted as an alternative to traditional religion and a natural extension of established scientific practice.
The religion of science is a blend of eastern religion and western science. It is a means to an end - the indoctrination of the scientific and theological intellectuals of western society into a harmonious one world religion. The truth is that these people have either rejected or doubted the Bible and Biblical Christianity. The devotees of this emerging religion include psychologists, biologists, research scientists, all varieties of doctors, all varieties of theologians, and the list goes on. Their reach and effect on western culture goes far and wide. The emerging religion of science is creeping into our society at an alarming rate. Meditation therapy, psychotherapy, Indigo children, energy medicine, visual and auditory imagery, etc. are all manifestations of this modern journey into Babel.
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
